Privacy policy
We collect very little, keep it briefly and never sell it. Here are the details.

Who is responsible
SpacePloer is an independent online publication based in Alpine, Texas, USA. For anything about your personal information, contact [email protected].
What we collect
Visiting the site
Our web server automatically logs basic technical details for each request: IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. We use these logs to run and secure the site and to fix problems.
Local times, countdowns and the "your clock" display are worked out in your browser using your device's own time-zone setting. That information is not sent to us.
Writing to us
If you use the contact form or email us, we receive what you choose to send: typically your name, email address, an optional location and your message. We use it only to read and answer your message, act on a correction, or, with your permission, publish a photo you've sent.
What we don't do
- We don't sell personal information.
- We don't share it with others for their marketing.
- We don't build profiles of individual readers.
Third parties
Our typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests font files from Google's servers and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. If we later add analytics (such as Google Analytics) or advertising (such as Google AdSense), those providers may collect device and usage data under their own policies, and where the law requires consent we'll ask first. Details of cookies are in our cookie policy.
How long we keep things
Server logs: normally up to 90 days, longer only if needed to investigate abuse. Messages: as long as needed to deal with them, and usually deleted within 12 months.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may be able to ask us to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, object to processing, or receive a copy of it. These rights exist under laws including the EU and UK GDPR, Brazil's LGPD, California's privacy laws and the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act. To make a request, email [email protected] with "Privacy request" in the subject line. We'll reply within the time your law requires and won't treat you differently for asking.
International readers
We're based in the United States and process information here. Data-protection rules in the U.S. may differ from those where you live, but we apply this policy to everyone.
Children
The site is for a general audience and isn't aimed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you think a child has sent us details, tell us and we'll delete them.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted HTTPS connections when the site is live. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise absolute security.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and note significant changes on this page.
